Tourist visas are best for short visits. According to Russian
law it is illegal for a hotel to provide you with an invitation
if you are not going to stay there but this law is broken more
often than it is followed. Many agencies can get you a visa and
have it registered without a night booked in a hotel, and many
hotels will give you give you an invitation and register it even
if you're only staying with them for part of your trip. To
obtain a tourist visa, please contact your travel agency and
submit the following documents:
1. A completed visa application form (one per person)
2. National passport (original) valid for at least 6
months after the intended date of departure from Russia
3. Three identical professional passport sized (3x4
cm) photos on a white background. Pictures can be
black-and-white or colour, preferably on matt paper. Please
write your name in capital letters on the back of the photos.
One photo should be stapled to the specially marked place of the
application form
4. A standard tourist confirmation ("Podtverzdeniye")
from an authorized hosting Russian travel agency, registered
with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The confirmation
letter must contain the agency's special reference number
5. A tour voucher original or its copy attested by the
travel agency
6. A cover letter from your travel agency containing:
| applicant's name or alphabetical list of a group |
| dates and points of arrival and departure in and from
Russia, means of transport |
| itinerary in Russia |
| the name of the hosting Russian company and its
reference number |
Please follow the above requirements when submitting your
papers. Otherwise, the documents will be returned.
Apart from a tourist visa, you may be required to present at
the border check point your tourist confirmation, voucher and a
return ticket with a fixed date of departure from Russia, as
well as evidence of your ability to support yourself during the
travel.
Visa processing time starts only after the Consulate has
received all necessary documents. Please note, that drop-off day
is not counted as a business day. If you apply by mail, please
enclose a return self-addressed sufficiently stamped envelope
and add one more day for processing.
Payments must be made in cash, by money order or bank cheque
to the Consulate. Personal cheques are not accepted.
After you receive your visa, please check it for possible
mistakes (passport number, date of birth, term of validity etc.)
and, if necessary, return it to the Consulate for corrections.
The Consulate will not be responsible for the mistakes, which
were not brought to its attention before your departure. |
